This page defines the key entities that make up the organisational structure in StaffSync. Understanding these concepts is essential for configuring and managing your account correctly.

Entities

Organisation

The primary entity in StaffSync representing a single business, site, store, school, or workplace. Each organisation has its own staff, departments, roles, rosters, timesheets, and settings. Organisations sit within a portal and can be grouped under a head office if the portal has multiple sites.

Head Office

A top-level account that has visibility and reporting access across multiple organisations within the same portal. Head office users can run cross-site reports, manage organisation-level settings, and oversee timesheets and staff from a central view.

Portal

A branded instance of StaffSync that groups one or more organisations together under a single access point. Portals are typically configured per client or per enterprise group. Each organisation belongs to exactly one portal, and the portal determines shared configuration such as industry and branding.

Industry

A classification assigned to a portal that describes the sector the organisation operates in (e.g. Hospitality, Healthcare, Retail, Education). The industry setting can influence default configuration options and available features across organisations in the portal.

Category

A further classification used to group or describe organisations within a portal. Categories provide a more granular way to segment organisations beyond industry (e.g. by business type, size, or operational model), and can be used for filtering and reporting at the head office level.
